The Courage to Bloom Scholarship
Celebrating the Students Who Bloom Quietly
The Courage to Bloom Scholarship was created to recognize a different kind of student.
Not just the highest achievers.
Not just the most visible leaders.
But the ones who:
Show up every day
Work hard without recognition
Grow steadily over time
Lead with kindness and quiet strength
These are the students Jane believed in most—and the ones this scholarship exists to honor.
What Makes This Scholarship Different
We believe recognition should feel encouraging—not stressful or competitive.
That’s why our process is intentionally simple and thoughtful:
No applications
No essays
No pressure
No competition
Students are nominated by the teachers who know them best—those who have witnessed their growth, resilience, and character over time
What We Look For
Growth & Perseverance
Steady effort, resilience through challenges, and meaningful personal development.
Quiet Leadership
Leading by example—through actions, not attention.
Kindness & Service
Compassion for others and a willingness to help without seeking recognition.
A Love of Learning
Curiosity, openness to growth, and a genuine desire to improve.
The Quiet Striver
A student who consistently works hard and grows—often without being celebrated.
How Students Are Selected
The selection process is rooted in insight, not competition:
Teachers nominate students based on long-term observation
Multiple educators provide perspective across grade levels
A small selection committee reviews nominations
Awards are thoughtfully determined based on each school’s needs
This approach ensures that students are recognized for who they are—not just what they achieve.
Award Structure
Each participating school receives scholarship funding to distribute in a way that best serves its students.
Examples include:
One full scholarship
Multiple smaller awards
A combination tailored to student needs
This flexible model allows schools to celebrate more students and maximize impact.
Why It Matters
Many students who work the hardest are often the least recognized.
This scholarship changes that.
It affirms:
Effort matters
Growth matters
Character matters
And sometimes, being seen is the most powerful encouragement a child can receive.
Looking Ahead
Beginning in the 2025–2026 academic year, the Courage to Bloom Scholarship will begin recognizing students and building a lasting tradition of encouragement and opportunity.
